Rachel’s SENIOR SESSION
09/12/18
Focus on the Family | Chapel Hills Mall | Air Force Academy | Colorado Springs
Rachel. I love her. She is one of my sisters best friends and one of mine as well. She is funny, compassionate, and absolutely beautiful inside and out. I was completely pumped to be able to do her senior session, because she is so natural in front of the camera. She also has a great sense of style, and I loved getting to help her pick out some outfits for her session. When we scheduled our session, I wanted it to be an adventure, so we didn’t pick a specific location. We drove around Colorado Springs and found a bunch of fun spots! I loved the variety of urban & nature with her different outfits.
We started off at Focus on the Family and found a lot of fall color, gorgeous trees, and even a little flower garden! Rachel started off wearing a more casual outfit, and I just loved the stripes!
“LIFE ISN’T PERFECT BUT YOUR OUTFIT CAN BE.”
For Rachel’s second outfit, she had these adorable overalls that I was completely obsessed with. I definitely wanted some urban/grunge vibes to compliment them, so I thought, why not the Chapel Hills Mall? I decided that the top of the parking garage of Dillards and the stairway would be perfect! She brought along a bouquet of dried flowers, and I thought the colors went so well with her top. She also brought her camera, because she is also a photographer! We’ve been on vacation together before, and we always enjoyed taking portraits of each other! Anyway, I just loved the urban, hipster vibe from these photos. Rachel totally killed it!
“I AM STRONG, I AM BEAUTIFUL, I AM ENOUGH.”
“IF YOU GOT BEAUTY, BEAUTY, JUST RAISE EM UP.
CAUSE EVERY INCH OF YOU IS PERFECT FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP.”

Then we headed over to the nearby field. It was right before sunset, so golden hour was upon us. I had Rachel go out into the field, spin around, and I just told her to do all the poses that came to mind, and to change it up between each shot. She definitely got her model on! We also experimented with the “arm over the head pose,” which I thought was super cute. It seems to be one of the current Instagram trends. If I can remember correctly, I’m pretty sure we turned on some “model music,” maybe some Meghan Trainor?
When Rachel was talking about this location, she said there was a little pond. I had always seen such gorgeous photos of people in the water, so I definitely wanted to get some of those! These photos are some of my absolute favorites from her senior session. We definitely got some fun photos in the water where she was splashing it everywhere. One of the funniest ones was where she brought her hands out of the water, and it almost looked like she was carrying grocery bags. Between the reflection, ripples, lighting, and the colors of her outfit, I just loved how these photos turned out!
We finished off her senior session with some twinkle lights. We took them in her neighborhood, because we realized we forgot to take some with the lights during our shoot! I loved the dreamy vibes with her expression I absolutely loved getting to photograph Rachel’s senior session! It was so fun getting to use different props and exploring different locations!
YAY RACHEL! YOU MADE IT TO SENIOR YEAR!
I hope your year if full of many adventures with amazing friends and memories!
